Bestrock Sacco, one of Kitui County’s fastest-growing cooperative societies, on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, held a successful Education Day in Kitui town to brief members on the directive by the Commissioner of Cooperatives requiring Saccos to adopt the delegate system of governance. The forum brought together hundreds of members eager to understand how the new structure will affect future operations and decision-making within the Sacco.

Officials explained that the transition from the traditional Annual General Meeting (AGM) to an Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM) aims to improve efficiency and strengthen accountability in line with ongoing national cooperative reforms. They noted that the delegate system will allow for more organised representation, with elected delegates mandated to speak and vote on behalf of members during key Sacco deliberations.

Members were also taken through the criteria for selecting delegates, their responsibilities, and how the new framework ensures inclusivity despite reducing the size of the main decision-making forum. According to the management, the shift will not limit member participation but will instead streamline processes and enhance the Sacco’s capacity to handle its rapid growth.
