A 33 – year – old woman has died by suicide in Masinga, Machakos County.
Police said Emmaculate Mwende Kyengo’s death was reported by one of her relatives. Mwende reportedly ended her own life inside her matrimonial house at Kathui village in Kikumini sublocation, Masinga Sub-county on Sunday.
The incident was reported to Kikumini police post as suicide incident report on Sunday at 7.40am.
“It was reported by the relative that Emmaculate Mwende Kyengo aged 33 years had committed suicide inside her house in Kathui village Kikumini sublocation. The OCS and DCI team visited the scene and found deceased hanging dead from the roof trass inside her bedroom with a red lesso tied on her neck with no physical injuries,” a police report read in part.
Police said they recovered a suicide note from the scene. “Upon further observation in the room, a suicide note was recovered alleging she has taken her life to protest against her husband liason with another woman,” it stated.
Police processed the scene and removed the body to Mbaku Funeral Home for preservation pending an autopsy.
An inquest number 07/2023 has been opened and investigations launched by OCS Masinga.
