A 78 Old Widow From Kyatune Kwa Toma Crying For Justice Over Land Tussle

A 78 year old widow has been rendered homeless after goons threatened to take away her life and demolished her home following a land tussle with her sisters children. Josephine Syokau Mulei, a mother of five from kwa Toma , Ikanga/Kyatune ward, kitui south, kitui county is now crying for justice .

She alleges that her sisters’ children acquired the land illegally. She claims that she owned the land after her father subdivided the land to her and other 2 children.

Syokau told Hopkin Reporter that she Traveled on foot from Kyatune To kitui town despite her old age after efforts by the council of elders to speak to her nephews has fallen on deaf ears.

“I have sold nearly everything I owned to fight for my land and now I have no money, I am sick and I feel I may die soon”,narrated the widow.

Madam syokau is now appealing to her MCA Cyrus Sonko, her Mp Rachael Kaki, her women representative Irene Kasalu among other leaders to help her get justice. She also told Hopkin Reporter that her nephews threatened her that they have pocketed all the administration from the area Chief Mr Kyambati to the Sub-county commissioner at mutomo.

“All I want is justice ,why are they insisting that I leave even the little where my house stands after they sold the other land”, She narrated while crying.

Charles kyalo Muinde, the chairman Bunge la Wazalendo Kitui County termed it grievous that people close to the poor widow are frustrating her ” Let them (Nephews) know that they will live to regret what they are doing to Josephine syokau”.

He added that Kitui County Government led by Dr Malombe and other well wishers should intervene and let the poor widow have back her parcel of land so to live in peace at her old age.
