Former Kitui Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu has expressed deep sorrow following the sudden and untimely death of former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. In her heartfelt message, Ngilu said she was shocked by the passing of a man she described as a pillar of democracy, a visionary leader, and a true patriot who dedicated his life to fighting for a just and equitable Kenya.
Ngilu eulogized Raila as a tireless champion of human rights and good governance whose leadership left an indelible mark on the nation’s political and social landscape. She noted that throughout his political journey, Raila remained steadfast in his mission to make Kenya a better country for all, often putting the interests of the people above personal gain. His courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit, she said, will forever inspire generations to come.
The former governor recalled working closely with Raila during the struggle for multiparty democracy and later in government, where his dedication to public service and reform stood unmatched. She described him as a friend and mentor whose contribution to the country’s democratic space cannot be overstated. According to Ngilu, Raila’s legacy will continue to live on through the freedoms and democratic principles he so passionately defended.
Ngilu extended her sincere condolences to Mama Ida Odinga and the entire Jaramogi family, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult period. “We have lost a tower of democracy and a fighter for human rights and good governance. My sincere condolence to Mama Ida and the entire Jaramogi family. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Go well my friend,” she said.
