COUNTY ASSEMBLY OF KITUI GOES TO HISTORY

Kitui county assembly has gone history as it is in the public domain, that the Majority Party Which is Wiper Democratic Movement (WDP-K) has a set of two leaders of majority and two Chief Whips.

This came out clearly in presence of Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe (EGH) during the launch of the CIDP, as MCAs were introducing themselves to the members of public, where expected to mention their names, the wards they represent and office they holds.

Following the leadership wrangles in the assembly would lead the honorable members not to focus on the agenda of Kitui that’s development to locals.

Honorable Harrison Maluki , MCA Migwani and Hon Bonface Mukwate Katula MCA Kanyangi has been the Leader of Majority and Chief Whip respectively until Wiper NEC announced that Hon Munyoki Mwinzi, MCA Kyuso and Hon Daniel Ngoima Kimanzi, MCA Township the new Leader of Majority and Chief Whip respectively, they both demanded to speak last with Boniface Mukwate and Muthengi Ndangara taking their seat after Daniel Ngoima and Munyoki Mwinzi wanted them to speak first.

The office of the Leader of the Majority Party (and deputy Majority Party Leader) is under Section 10 (1) of the County Governments Act 2012.The members of the largest party or coalition of parties in the Assembly elect, from among themselves, the Leader of the Majority Party.

The Majority Party Leader spearheads the legislative agenda of the largest party or coalition of parties in the Assembly.The Leader of Majority is also the link between the County Executive and County Assembly.

The leader of the majority party is the person who is the leader of the largest party or coalition of parties in the county assembly.They are the lead speaker for the majority party during floor debates.

The Chief Whip in their functions assist in floor debates, ensure members’ attendance, count votes, generally communicate to members positions of their respective parties.
