The Kitui County River Basins, Sand Utilization and Conservation Policy , 2023 and the Kitui County River Basins, Sand Utilization and Conservation Bill 2023 were today presented to the County Assembly for consideration, adoption and enactment as per the Kenyan Constitution.
The policy and Bill once enacted into law will streamline, regulate and bring order to the activities around sand value chain.
The sand value chain will ensure environmental conservation, and protection and rehabilitation of Rivers and riparian lands.
The MCAs will subject both the policy framework and the Bill to the normal process of legislation geared towards coming up with a law that can be implemented and on whose strength, environment violators can be punished severely.
