East Africa Community, ASALs, and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza has been traversing parts of Kitui County giving relief food to locals, an exercise that seems been irking Kitui Women Representative Dr Irene Kasalu.
Kitui Women Rep Irene Kasalu had told the Cabinet Secretary that locals do not need relief food as it is harvest time asking her to instead bring water projects
Cs Malonza in a recent event on Friday, 1st March 2024, while distributing relief food to over 25,000 locals across Ngomeni, Tseikuru, Kyuso, Tharaka, and Mumoni wards in Mwingi North Constituency, accused Dr Irene Kasalu of inciting residents to reject relief food, claiming residents doesn’t need food.
CS Malonza wasted no time addressing the issue head-on, delivering a speech that not only flattened Kasalu’s arguments but also highlighted the importance of ongoing relief efforts for the community.
The residents, frustrated by Kasalu’s remarks, rallied behind Penina Malonza, urging her to disregard the divisive comments and to continue providing much-needed relief to the community.
In the midst of this verbal clash, it becomes evident that the focus should be on the well-being of the residents and the effectiveness of the relief efforts. CS Malonza’s commitment to delivering aid takes center stage, overshadowing the discord generated by Kasalu’s controversial statements.
The incident sheds light on the challenges faced by public officials in ensuring the smooth distribution of relief resources and the potential impact of political rhetoric on community welfare. It also underscores the resilience of the local population, emphasizing the need for unity and collaboration in times of crisis.
One thing is certain – the importance of prioritizing the well-being of the community should always be at the forefront of such discussions.
