Residents of Kitui South for the second day running converged at Mutomo Chiefs’ Camp to give their views on the Kitui County river basins sand utilization and conservation policy, 2023. In a session moderated by Hon. Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi (Ikanga/Kyatune), members of the public expressed their dissatisfaction with some sections of the policy and urged Members of the County Assembly to consider amending such sections. Some of the issues members of the public raised were the proposed charges per tonnage which they considered to be on the higher side.
In Kitui East Sub-county, members of the public thronged AIC Zombe where they were taken through the Kitui County river basins sand utilization and conservation Bill, 2023. The locals unanimously backed the bill as it is and exuded confidence that the proposed law will be of great benefits to them.
Similar forums were also held in Kitui Rural and Kitui Central Sub-counties where members of the County Assembly acknowledged the valuable contributions and input received from the public and assured them that their suggestions will be given due consideration.
The County Assembly will tomorrow engage the residents of Kitui West, Mwingi West, Mwingi Central and Mwingi North Sub-counties.
