Mwingi North MP, Eng. Paul Nzengu has called on farmers across Mwingi North and who are on the harvesting season to avoid selling their produce at throw away prices.

Mwingi North is the hotbed of green grams farming with most farmers from Tseikuru, Ngomeni, Mumoni and parts of Kyuso wards reaping big from the type of farming.

Speaking in Mumoni ward where he had attended a funeral function, Nzengu noted that most farmers are selling their green grams at a very low price.

“I understand that a kilo of maize goes for 75 shillings, while that of ndengu is selling at 55 shillings,” he said.

The second term MP has urged the farmers to ensure they sell their ndengu at a price they would benefit from.

“Bearing that we witnessed a tragic drought period where farmers struggled to even purchase seedlings, let’s ensure we benefit from our produce after sales,” said Nzengu.

He also advised parents to use the money gotten from the business to settle important matters including settling school fees arrears for their children.
