Over 60 groups gathered at the Kanyangi Boys grounds in Kitui Rural Constituency, where they received vital support from the ongoing government Economic Empowerment Programme. The event, led by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, aimed to strengthen women, youth, and small-scale traders by providing resources through SACCOs and organized groups.
In his speech, Prof. Kindiki stated that the safety and security of Kenya is non-negotiable. He condemned recent incidents of lawlessness and warned that the government will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the country under the guise of exercising constitutional rights.
He also criticized political leaders who incite violence or downplay unrest, describing such behavior as reckless and unpatriotic. The Deputy President called on all leaders to unite in fostering peace and development across the nation.
Prof. Kindiki further applauded the resilience of Kenyans working diligently to build the country, adding that the Economic Empowerment Programme complements the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which is designed to grow local economies and uplift grassroots communities.
