Dr Kasalu The Only Female Mp Holding a PhD In Mathematics

Mathematics is viewed as one of the most challenging subjects. It requires a sharp mind that can crunch numbers and understand complex concepts.

However, for this Kitui county female Member of Parliament, it seems mathematics was one of her best subjects that she pursued it to the highest level.

Dr Irene Muthoni Kasalu is a Kenyan politician and the current Kitui county woman representative and eyeing for the top county seat 2027. She clinched the seat in the 2022 general elections under Wiper ticket.

She is serving as the woman representative for Kitui for a second term, having clinched the seat for the first time in 2017 general elections and in 2022 she retained the seat.

She is also elected the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) Secretary General in the 13th Parliament. Dr Kasalu has been very vocal when it comes to matters affecting youths and women in the society. Her love for women and especially girls can never go unnoticed as she has always called for tougher measures to be taken against those defiling girls and raping women.

Kasalu also has an initiative of issuing sanitary towels to girls every term in a bid to ensure that girls always stay in school even during their red days.Through these factors and many others,she has been able to win the hearts of Kitui people.

Dr Irene is a female politician who is blessed with beauty and brains,according to trusted sources and her linked profile, Dr Kasalu is an accomplished scholar who holds a PhD Mathematics from Leicester university in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Nairobi.

She previously worked as a Finance and Mathematics lecturer at Meru University of Science & Technology before her entry into politics. In 2017 she quit her job as a lecturer to contest for Kitui county woman representative seat, fortunately she won.
