FACTS ON MASINGA Water Supply & Making Kitui County water secure

372

KITWASCO will continue supplying water to Kitui as before while Kithioko, matuu and Masinga will now be under Yatta water company as it should have in the first place.

1. There is no transfer of Kitwasco water management functions so far to any other entity.

2. HE Governor Wavinya Ndeti made a proposal to have Machakos control some functions of Kitwasco in regards to water supply in Machakos County. That request has not been granted.

3. Machakos County is (and has been) angling to have their own water intake from Masinga Dam. If this happens, then it means it will be controlled by a different entity and not Kitwasco. In that case, Kitui does not lose anything at all.

4. There are solid plans to expand and extend Masinga – Kitui water pipeline from Masinga Dam, thereby increasing its water capacity. This will mean sufficient water for everybody. His Excellency Governor Malombe is at the heart of this arrangement.

5. Governor Malombe and Water PS Kiprono Ronoh three days ago signed an MoU on critical water projects specifically for Kitui County – to make the county water secure.

6. These projects include among others; expansion and extension of Kiambere – Mwingi water pipeline, Completion of Umaa and Kitimui dams, medium sized dams, water pans and sand dams across Kitui county.

7. Water Security is at the heart of Governor Malombe’s manifesto. He is committed to implement it and make Kitui county water secure.

8. Governor Malombe will do this in partnership with the National Government and development partners.
