Father Julius Muthamba of Holy Family Kabati parish recently led celebration of education within the parish, which saw the participation of over 1,000 students and teachers from various Catholic-sponsored schools. This celebration was part of a larger initiative observed across all parishes in the Diocese of Kitui, highlighting the church’s commitment to education and moral development.
During his address, Father Muthamba emphasized the critical role of education in shaping the future of students. He urged the young attendees to be disciplined, hardworking, and to uphold good morals as foundational principles for their academic and personal growth. Stressing the importance of education, he encouraged students to remain focused and dedicated, reinforcing the idea that their future success heavily relies on their educational pursuits and moral integrity.
Father Muthamba also addressed parents, urging them to inculcate good virtues in their children and to raise them with a strong sense of God-fearing principles. He highlighted the essential role of parents in guiding their children towards a virtuous life, suggesting that the home environment plays a crucial part in the moral and spiritual upbringing of the youth. His message underscored the collective responsibility of both parents and the church in fostering a well-rounded and morally upright generation.
Father Muthamba reminded teachers of their duty to instill good morals in their students while at school. He stressed the importance of educating children about the dangers of drug and substance abuse, and the necessity of abstaining from such vices.
Additionally, he warned against negative influences that could jeopardize their future, such as early sexual activities and exposure to LGBTQ+ behaviors, advocating for a focus on traditional moral values.
