Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe (EGH) and High Court Judge Justice Robert Limo today led a delagation from the county administration and Kitui Law Courts for a site tour of a parcel of land at Manyenyoni earmarked for expansion of the courts.
Addressing a press conference after the tour, Governor Malombe said his administration will facilitate the allotment process to the Judiciary to pave way for the setting up of judiciary infrastructure.
Governor Dr Malombe said the 2-acre piece of land was allocated in 2016 during the preparation of the Part Development Plan (PDP) for the Manyenyoni Public land.
The governor also revealed plans by his administration to identify at least half an acre of land in each of the 8 sub – counties for use by the judiciary to further decentralize services to the people.
Governor Malombe said the move was in the spirit of promoting interdependence between the national and county governments in delivery of services to Kenyans.
On his part, Justice Limo thanked the county administration for supporting the access to judicial services through such initiatives.
He regretted the serious shortage of space at the Kitui Law Courts saying lack of adequate room for expansion was hampering court operations.
“The situation is so dire such that we preside over court matters in the corridors of justice”. He said.
