Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) has today named seven (7) nominees for the Mwingi Municipality Board.
Three of the nominees Mr. Alex Nzoka Mwanzia, Mr. Ronald Mutua Kamotho, Ms. Evelyne Mutheu Kitheka were competitively identified through public advertisement, applications, shortlisting, interviewing, and ranking by the County Public Service Board.
Four members were nominated by associations for appointment by the Governor with the approval of the County Assembly in accordance with Clause (3) of the Section 11 of the Urban Areas and Cities (Amendment) Act 2019.
Ms. Lydia Mwikali Kitonga was nominated by the Larger Mwingi Youth Link with Pastor Eunice Mutua nominated by Shiloh Saving and Credit Cooperative Ltd. and Mwingi Clergy Self-Help Group.
Mr. Mbuvi Musyimi was nominated by Mwingi Hawkers Association while Dr. John Kyalo Muthuka was nominated by Kyulungwa Professional Association, KYUPRA.
The nominations put into consideration the observance of the two-thirds (2/3) Constitutional gender rule; the Inter-generational inclusivity and Persons living with disability (PWD).
The nominations also considered the residents of the areas/villages and the neighbourhood within the municipality. Governor Dr. Malombe, in his remarks, said he had forwarded the names of the Municipality Board nominees to the County Assembly for approval and consideration after which he will appoint and gazette them.
