Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, officially flagged off a team of enumerators to kick-start the County Comprehensive Data Collection exercise. The initiative is poised to transform service delivery by providing reliable data to support informed decision-making, policy development, and equitable resource allocation.

Speaking during the event, Governor Malombe emphasized the pivotal role of data in governance. “Data is the backbone of informed decision-making. It allows us to identify gaps, unlock opportunities, and ensure efficient, targeted service delivery,” he stated.

The exercise will see enumerators collect crucial information on businesses, urban land parcels, and plots across all villages, wards, and sub-counties in Kitui. This data will aid in planning and implementing projects such as improved road networks, enhanced water access, increased agricultural productivity, better healthcare services, market development, waste management, and improved educational facilities.

Governor Malombe expressed confidence that the data would enable his administration to better understand the needs of Kitui residents and tailor services accordingly. “This process will help us plan for equitable development and create a conducive environment for businesses and communities to thrive,” he noted.

To ensure the success of the exercise, the county trained 115 enumerators and deployed village administrators across the region. The teams have pledged confidentiality through an oath of secrecy, ensuring the integrity and security of the data collected.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Livestock, who also coordinates the exercise, announced that the data collection will be completed within 15 days. Once analyzed, the findings will be integrated into public policy to enhance transparency, accountability, and community engagement.

Governor Malombe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to leveraging data to foster progress and innovation. “This marks a significant step toward achieving efficient service delivery and sustainable development for all residents of Kitui County,”he concluded.
