Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has issued a stern warning to his County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and chief officers, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and bribery.
Speaking during the ceremony for the signing of performance contracts for the 2024/2025 period, the governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to accountability and integrity. This decisive stance follows the recent dismissal of the Trade, Industry, MSMEs & County EIZs. Chief Officer, Stephen Makau Musili, also known as Kivunzi, over corruption allegations involving a 2 million shillings bribe for a tender related to the proposed Kanyonyoo industrial park.
Governor Malombe did not mince words in his address, stating, “I wanted to take this opportunity to warn all chief officers and CECMs: if you engage in corruption, we will let you go and do it somewhere else.” This unequivocal message underscores the governor’s commitment to maintaining transparency within his administration.
By taking such a firm stance, Malombe aims to foster a culture of accountability and trust, ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly and in the best interest of the people of Kitui.
The governor’s actions serve as a clear signal to all county officials that corruption will not be tolerated under his leadership. By promptly addressing the allegations against Musili and taking decisive action, Malombe demonstrates his dedication to upholding ethical standards and protecting the public from exploitation. This move is expected to deter potential corrupt activities among officials and reinforce the importance of ethical conduct in public service.
Governor Malombe’s administration has been focused on improving service delivery and implementing development projects that benefit the community. The crackdown on corruption is a crucial part of these efforts, as it ensures that resources are used efficiently and projects are completed transparently. The governor’s commitment to fighting corruption aligns with his broader vision of creating a more accountable and effective government that serves the needs of its citizens.
