Ikanga Kyatune MCA Hon Cyrus Musyoka SONKO while in his evening patrols in Kitui town, Central Business District (CBD) had a moment with a street boy who approached him appealing to be taken to school.
The Minor identified as Julius Mutua from Kyaaka in Kyatune location, left home early May 2023 to Kitui town due to lack of school fees.
The boy of twelve years old has been selling scrap metal in Kunda Kindu to earn living and get food.
The little boy has confirmed that he has been sleeping in the streets despite his tender age.
The boy also said he was schooling at Kyatune Primary school in Ikanga Kyatune Ward and he was in grade five.
After his mother passed away when he was a toddler, he has been living with his grandma, Monica Muthui, and due to her older age she could not manage to pay fees.
The boy speaking exclusively with Hopkin Reporter revealed that he has two big brothers namely Muthui Mutua who works at Nairobi and Mutuku working at kiambu.
Hon Sonko has assured the minor that he will take him to a boarding facility and sees a bright future ahead of him.
“He’s been living in the streets of Kunda kindu for months after lack of school fees. He has now found a family and will go to boarding school facility. I see a bright future,” Sonko said.
