Hundreds of people gathered at Unyaa primary school, Kitui Central for the funeral of one of the late Agnes Kamene Kilonzo Mother to Nason Kangalya, Chief Officer for Youth Sports ICT and innovation in Kitui County Government.
Agnes Kamene was born on 25th May 1958 at Tungu Village Unyaa Sub location Tungutu Location, Kitui Central. She was the second born daughter to the late Geoffrey Mwanzia & Belita Kavitha. Sister to the late Veronica Samuel, late Michael Mwanzia, Elizabeth Sila , late Lena Ade, Isika Mwanzia and Margaret Mwanzia.
The ECDE teacher, enjoyed normal health untill the year 2020 when she complained of breast inflammation. She sought medical attention at Kitui County level IV hospital and after recurrent treatment schedules, she was referred to Machakos level V hospital where she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
She was successfully operated and chemotherapy started thereafter and enjoyed good health until 8th September when she complained of difficulties in breathing. And on 21st September she was taken to K.U.T.R.R.H where she was admitted and put on oxygen due to difficulties on breathing which was later diagnosed as cancer of lungs. Agnes succumbed on Monday 23rd October 2023 at 6:50pm.
Agnes fought the good fight and kept the faith. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
The solemn mass was attended by Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe EGH, Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, Chairperson Public Service Board Florence Makindi, County MCAs, County Executive committee members, Chief Officers, clergymen, Friends, neighbors and family.
