Kitui County aspiring governor 2027 Jimmy Safi Mulwa (Tanga) has condemned the recent surge in femicide cases.
Speaking to the Hopkin Digital on Tuesday, the business man called on the government to address Intimate Partner Violence. Safi Mulwa condemned the shaming of victims online and called for safe spaces to be provided to victims to come forward in gender-based violence cases.
This comes few hours after police yesterday arrested two Nigerians nationality ,who are held for interrogation to ascertain their involvement in Groosome murder of varsity student, Rita Waeni Muendo.
“It is sad to see a troubling increase in the deaths of young women, leaving a trail of grief for families and friends. As we condemn these killings, we also call on those in positions of authority to take action to protect and preserve the lives of our women while ensuring that justice is swiftly and commensurably served to the victims,” he said.
The most recent is the case of Rita Waeni Muendo, a 20-year-old university student whose dismembered body was discovered at a residential apartment in Nairobi’s Roysambu area on Sunday after she reported going to meet a friend.
Another recent case where popular socialite Starlet Wahu was on January 4 found murdered at a residential apartment in Nairobi’s South B area after checking in, in the company of a man since identified as John Matara.
