Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been appointed as the Deputy Party Leader of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), taking over from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This decision was reached by the UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) in a meeting held Monday morning. The change in leadership comes after Rigathi’s impeachment last month, which the NEC noted rendered him unable to fulfill the role of deputy party leader.
While announcing the resolution, UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire and Secretary General Hassan Omar expressed confidence in Kindiki’s abilities to propel the party forward. They praised his skills and commitment, stating that he would bring effective leadership and unity to UDA during a crucial period in Kenya’s political landscape.
In his acceptance speech, Kindiki reaffirmed his loyalty and dedication to the party and its goals. He emphasized that UDA remains committed to fostering unity among all Kenyans, regardless of their backgrounds, and highlighted the party’s intention to collaborate with other institutions to address challenges facing the country. Kindiki’s appointment comes at a critical time for UDA, and he pledged to uphold the party’s values as it seeks to bridge divisions and promote progress across the nation.
