Kitui Governor Julius Malombe (EGH) pledged to revive the Kitui agricultural show and trade fair during his campaign for the seat.

The governor has since directed agriculture Executive Stephen Kimwele Mbaya to ensure that the showground is revived to hold a high-standard event this year, after years of domancy since MBEE NZEI Regime came to power, Kitui will host celebrated days for three days from 27th to 29th July 2023 at Ithookwe grounds.

Speaking with Hopkin Reporter, Agriculture executive Stephen Kimwele Mbaya noted that this year’s theme will be “Promoting climate Smart Agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable foods and nutrition security and economic Growth.” “The agricultural show will be a good opportunity to position Kitui county as the best tourism and hospitality destination,” Hopkin Reports.

Kimwele said plans to rejuvenate the grounds are in top gear and the event has been planned for July 27th to 29th 2023.

“We are going to have a world-class show this year, during our visit to the showground we have been confronted by ruined flood lights, vandalised lavatories that have no door and collapsed gates. We will, however, refurbish and reclaim its lost glory,” the CEC said.

A lot of learning will take place and everyone will benefit from the opportunities created by stakeholder contact and exchange of knowledge.
