Since yesterday Tuesday 17th October 2023 the assembly of Kitui has terribly failed to transact any business oustensively due to persistent lack of quorum.

This is quite unusual and it appears stage managed lack of quorum which is basically choreographed to prevent and hinder the county assembly from delivering and discussing on the very important matter to people of Kitui county, the Governor’s Memorandum on the supplementary budget 1 of F/Y 2023/2024.

According to the Honorable members who have addressed the press Said “it beat anybody’s logics and common understanding as to why some honorable members of County assembly moreso the elected honorable members who have wards to represent would deliberately refuse to attend the plenary sittings especially during this week when the honorable house had received memorandum from the governor and Honorable Speaker was expected to communicate such memorandum to the assembly”.

It’s importance to note that both MCAs and the Governor were overwhelmingly elected the great people of Kitui to do nothing else but work for them.

Endau Malalani MCA and Deputy Majority Leader Hon Dr Erastus Mbuno has urged the county speaker to mobilize and bring the honorable members together in order to reconsider the governor’s Memorandum among other house business matters.

We request our colleagues who were duly elected by the great people of Kitui County to be faithful to their electorates and please attend assembly sitting as a way of facilitating development in their respective wards”, Mbuno said.

Saying their continued absence amounts to absconding of their constitutional duties hence betraying the very trust their people who elected them in the current positions of power.
