Kitui Boda Boda Riders Asked To Protect The Girl-Child

Kitui west youth leader Dr Vincent Munyoki, a young educationist and founder of the Vincent Munyoki Foundation, underscored the indispensable role of bodaboda riders in promoting the safety and educational opportunities for schoolgirls during his recent speech at the foundation’s event. Dr. Munyoki stressed that beyond their transportation duties, bodaboda riders play a crucial role in actively protecting the welfare and academic pursuits of young girls.

Addressing the boda boda riders at Matinyani Sub County, Kitui West during sensitization campaign against teenage pregnancy, Dr. Munyoki cautioned the riders against luring young girls into sexual relationships before they complete their studies and also emphasized his dedication to ensuring schoolgirls receive the necessary support and flexibility for regular class attendance.

Recognizing the transformative impact of patience and understanding, he highlighted the crucial role bodaboda riders play in facilitating girls’ access to education, empowering them to create brighter futures.

“Anyone under the age of 18 years cannot consent to any love relationship. It is both unethical and criminal for men to engage in relationships with young girls, he warned.

He also urged riders to be at the forefront in defending the rights of children as they conduct their daily transport business.
