On Saturday, August 24, 2024, the Kitui County Assembly concluded the preparation of committee work plans for the fiscal year 2024/2025. These work plans, prepared annually, serve as strategic roadmaps to guide members in fulfilling their legislative, representational, and oversight roles.
By setting clear timelines and objectives, the work plans aim to ensure that the Assembly operates effectively, focusing on key issues while avoiding ad-hoc approaches to legislative duties.
During the event, Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya emphasized the significance of the work plans in structuring committee activities. He noted that they are vital in organizing the legislative calendar, ensuring that all necessary matters are addressed in a timely and organized manner. “The work plans help us avoid haphazard approaches, ensuring we maintain a consistent and effective legislative oversight process,” said Hon. Kinengo.
Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzilu Nzioka, who also serves as the Chair of Chairs, highlighted the systematic, transparent, and effective nature of these plans. He pointed out that the structured approach not only strengthens governance but also enhances accountability. “Committee work plans enable us to fulfill our roles with clarity and focus, ultimately leading to better governance and oversight,” added Hon. Nzilu.
