The County Assembly of Kitui has officially handed over the construction of a modern office block to Centurion Engineers and Builders Limited, marking the start of a landmark project in Kitui town. The seven-storey building will serve as a new focal point in the town, designed to meet the growing needs of the Assembly.
Speaking at the launch event, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya handed over the site to Centurion Engineers and Builders Limited, describing the occasion as a great milestone in the county’s development. “The primary objective of this project is to provide a modern, functional, and well-equipped office block that meets the growing needs of our County Assembly. The proposed seven-storey block will house offices for all members and staff of the Assembly,” he stated.
Speaker Katisya announced that the construction is expected to take approximately two financial years and will cost about Ksh. 250 million, a significant investment aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the Assembly. To facilitate the construction, some members of the Assembly will temporarily relocate to KEFRI to provide the contractor with ample time and space for efficient and effective work execution.
The Speaker also emphasized that all procurement requirements were met in line with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act 2022 and expressed confidence in reaping the project’s benefits upon completion. The contractor was urged to hire 80% of its workforce from Kitui County, promoting local employment opportunities.
Centurion Engineers and Builders Limited pledged to maintain high standards, with a commitment to deliver the building according to the architect’s specifications. Once completed, the new office block will serve as a key point where constituents can meet their leaders, enhancing public service delivery in Kitui County.
