On Wednesday, 31st July 2024, Kitui County Referral Hospital received a significant consignment of drugs worth 6 million shillings. This development marks a substantial step forward in addressing the healthcare needs of the local population.

The delivery was officially received by Aggrey Kamba, the Chief Officer in charge of drugs and medical supplies, alongside Dr. John Mugai, the Hospital’s Medical Superintendent. This influx of medical supplies is expected to bolster the hospital’s capacity to provide essential medications and improve patient care.

In addition to the supplies received by Kitui County Referral Hospital, Mwingi Level IV Hospital also benefited from a delivery of drugs valued at 2.9 million shillings. This provision is anticipated to significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to serve the community, ensuring that patients have access to necessary treatments.

The allocation of these resources reflects a concerted effort by the county’s health administration to distribute medical supplies effectively across its healthcare facilities.

Receiving the consignment at Kitui County Referral Hospital, Aggrey Kamba highlighted that the drugs and non-pharmaceuticals would be distributed to various healthcare facilities throughout Kitui County.

He emphasized the importance of this consignment in maintaining uninterrupted healthcare services. “The arrival of these medical supplies is a significant boost to our healthcare system. They will ensure that our healthcare facilities can continue providing essential services without interruption.

This consignment is part of our broader strategy to enhance healthcare delivery in Kitui County, and we are committed to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the process,” Kamba stated.

Dr. John Mugai, the Medical Superintendent of Kitui County Referral Hospital, also attended the event and underscored the immediate benefits of the new supplies. He noted, “These supplies are crucial in maintaining the quality of care at our facilities.” He further added that another consignment from the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) is expected next week, promising continued support and enhancement of the county’s healthcare services.

This initiative highlights Kitui County’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare services and ensuring the well-being of its residents.
