On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, the Kitui County Government has bolstered its healthcare system with a new of drugs and non-pharmaceutical supplies valued at Ksh 28 million. Delivered by the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS), the consignment includes medication for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), painkillers, antibiotics, and various essential non-pharmaceutical products.
These supplies will be distributed across the county’s 14 hospitals, ensuring that residents receive enhanced medical services and uninterrupted access to critical healthcare resources.
Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies, Aggrey Kamba, highlighted the administration’s focus on healthcare improvement. “This delivery is a testament to the dedication of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s administration to the health and well-being of Kitui residents. It aligns perfectly with the governor’s manifesto, which prioritizes reliable and accessible healthcare services,” he stated.
Governor Malombe’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the county’s healthcare infrastructure. His administration’s efforts have been geared towards equipping health facilities, particularly in remote and underserved areas, to provide timely and efficient care to all residents.
The supplies are expected to address critical shortages, improve patient outcomes, and minimize the need for referrals to external facilities, marking a significant step in Kitui’s journey toward a robust and resilient healthcare system.
