On Friday, November 8, 2024, the County Government of Kitui, led by Governor Julius Malombe, donated essential items, including beddings, to support the training of 254 newly-recruited National Police Reservists (NPRs).
During the handover ceremony at Kitui Central Police Station, Chief Officer for Decentralized Units Stephen Salee highlighted that the recruits would undergo a 30-day training program in Mwingi. “We are here on behalf of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe to deliver this consignment, which will aid the 254 NPR trainees as they begin their training,” said Salee.
He noted that, following their training, the NPR officers will be deployed to border regions vulnerable to insecurity. “We are confident that once trained, these NPRs will bolster the efforts of other security personnel stationed along our borders to improve security across the county,” he added.
Kitui County Police Commander Leah Kithei expressed gratitude for the Governor’s support, acknowledging the importance of these provisions for the recruits. “I would like to thank Governor Malombe for this invaluable support. Many of these recruits come from modest backgrounds and couldn’t afford essential supplies, like beddings,” Kithei said.
