The Kitui County Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, through the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP), is launching a major recruitment drive to enhance agricultural productivity and financial management at the grassroots level. The county is seeking to recruit Ward Farmers SACCO Book Keepers in the initial phase of the project, covering 20 wards.
This strategic move aims to empower local farmers by providing essential bookkeeping services that ensure financial accountability and support sustainable agricultural development.
The recruitment exercise will take place in five sub-counties of Kitui: Mwingi Central, Mwingi North, Kitui Rural, Kitui East, and Kitui Central. This first phase targets wards in these regions, focusing on strengthening local agricultural value chains.
To qualify for the positions, candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old, residents of the respective wards, and possess a minimum academic qualification of Certified Public Accountant 1 (CPA 1). This recruitment aligns with Kitui County’s commitment to supporting youth employment while fostering agricultural growth at the community level.
Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, in collaboration with his CECM for Agriculture, Dr. Mbaya Kimwele, is spearheading this initiative as part of the broader agenda to fulfill what is often referred to as the “Kitui Promise.”
This promise underscores the county administration’s dedication to improving livelihoods through targeted agricultural interventions. By involving young, qualified locals as bookkeepers, the county seeks to create a transparent and well-organized financial system that benefits farmers directly, contributing to enhanced productivity and economic stability.
The introduction of Ward Farmers SACCO Book Keepers is expected to revolutionize the way local agricultural groups handle their finances. It is a step towards professionalizing small-scale farming by equipping farmers with the necessary skills and support to manage their resources effectively.
Governor Malombe’s administration continues to show commitment to practical and impactful initiatives, ensuring that Kitui’s agricultural sector remains vibrant and contributes significantly to the county’s overall economic growth.
