Friday, January 27, 2023 Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani is currently attending a County Steering Group (CSG) debrief meeting on the Short Rains Food and Nutrition Security Assessment (SRA) 2022 which is underway at Kitui Multi-purpose Hall in Kitui Town.
The meeting, which is reviewing the 2022 short rains food and nutrition security assessment Report for Kitui County, is being speam headed by the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) under the leadership of County Drought Coordinator Francis Koma who doubles up as the CSG Secretary.
The meeting is a culmination of a nationwide short rains food and nutrition security assessment (SRA) 2022 exercise which has been ongoing in all the 47 counties since January 16, 2023.The Final Draft County Report is set to be submitted to Kenya Food Security Steering Group on January 28, 2023 for subsequent review.
DG Kanani is accompanied by Agriculture and Water CECM Emmanuel Kisangau and County Director for Special Programmes Redempta Matiti, Kitui Town DCC Dorcas Ronoh among other County officers. The debrief meeting has brought together representatives from the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, Kenya Wildlife Service, Caritas – Kitui, UNICEF, FAO, WFP, Welthungerhilfe, USAID Resilience Learning Activity and Save the Children/Advancing Nutrition Project.
Others include officials of Resource Conflict Institute (RECONCILE), SASOL Foundation, Kenya Red Cross Society, Eastern Community Development Program, Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADS-E), World Vision International, Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), AMREF and TWENDE/ REPLAP.
