KITUI ECDE TEACHERS TRANSIT TO PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE TERMS

Today Mark a very special occasion in the history of Early Childhood Education in Kitui county in particular and Kenya in general. One thousand, eight hundred and ninety eight 1898 teachers are transiting from casual employment into a scheme of service that offers permanent and pensionable terms.The newly recruited teachers went through the headcount and met the minimum qualification required.

In a report seen by Hopkin Reporter, the staff hired will be teaching learners in 1898 ECDE centers with a total capacity of 73380 learners. Those hired are part of the two thousand, four hundreds and one 2401 teachers the county government of Kitui has been paying salaries for since devolution.

Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe has been very passionate about improving the quality of learning for young learners and impact knowledge, skills and values at an early age so to brighten the future of the children as well as that of the county.

However, teachers who did not meet the qualifications test as well as those who have reached retirement age ,will be given up to December to exit the service.

Teachers will be motivated by being paid well and on time. Before, the teachers used to get low and unreliable salaries often being paid by parents and Faith-based organization.

The hiring exercise took place at Board’s office on Monday, 20th February 2023.
