Kitui Goes Digital As Safaricom launches MyCounty App The Second County

Kitui county partnered with Safaricom PLC has launched MyCounty App that will ease access to government services, enable faster payments and also aid the government in achieving its mandates.

Kitui becomes the second county to integrate to myCounty.

Safaricom team Led by Nicholas Mulila, the Chief Corporate Security Officer at Safaricom PLC responsible for the Business Risk Management Strategy, Cyber Security Management representing CEO Peter Ndegwa.

In his speech, Governor Malombe (Dr) said the ”platform underscores an important milestone in the advancement of technology in Kitui’s service delivery to the residents”.

The Governor said the “launch is in line with SDG (17) which focuses on strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development technology”.

In his speech Mulila said Kitui County app is to break barriers, challenges between the citizen and the leadership.

“This app is a tool for breaking through barriers, challenging the status quo and re-imagining what is possible. It is a tool for leadership, for inspiring our citizens to be bold and visionary in their thinking and to embrace the power of change to create a better county for themselves and generations to come. It is a recognition that the power to change the world is within each and every one of us,” said Mulila.

Kitui deputy Governor said Kitui CountyApp will bring alot of convenience to the great people of Kitui in terms of accessing the services.

“Last financial year Kitui County was ranked number one in terms of revenue collection, and I hope with MyCountyApp, We are going to grow it further”, DG Kanani said

MyCounty App will allow users to select their county of residence which enables them to be linked to the specific county’s services for processing of requests. In addition, all users can also access services from other counties which will enable payment of parking fees and other common fees.

Besides county services, myCounty will also provide a “Sema Na Governor” feature empowering residents to engage their Governor or report issues. It will further provide key County and emergency services including requests for fire, ambulance, police and more at the tap of a button.

M,yCounty will be accessible through a USSD short code, Android and iPhone App for all counties, and a mini-app on the M-PESA Super App which will offer county services and payments including parking fees, single business permit fees, market cess, land rates, property rates amongst others.
