Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today oversaw the signing of performance contracts for the 2024/2025 period with members of the executive, underlining his administration’s dedication to accountability, transparency, and exceptional service delivery.
The ceremony, held at the county headquarters, signifies a significant step in the governor’s effort to ensure that government officials are held responsible for their performance. This initiative reflects the county’s commitment to enhancing public service and meeting the community’s needs effectively.
In his address, Governor Malombe stressed that the performance contracting system will be extended to chief officers, directors, municipality managers, and other staff through a structured performance appraisal system.
This cascading approach aims to foster a culture of accountability at all levels of government, ensuring that every member of the administration is working towards the common goal of improving service delivery. By involving all tiers of the county’s workforce, the governor aims to create a cohesive and efficient system.
Governor Malombe praised the county ministries for their outstanding performance in implementing previous contracts, which has resulted in notable improvements in service delivery.
He emphasized that the new contracts will build on these successes, incorporating lessons learned to further enhance the county’s operations. A key highlight of the new performance contracts is the inclusion of productivity mainstreaming, as recommended by the 3rd national wage bill conference held at the Bomas of Kenya in April. This new component ensures that the targets set within the contracts are aligned with measurable outputs and outcomes, translating efforts into tangible benefits for the people of Kitui.
