Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe (EGH) today hosted Senator Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Sen. (Rtd) Justice Stewart Madzayo (Kilifi Senator), Eddy Gicheru Oketch (Migori), Nominated Senator Beth Syengo (ODM), Sen Okenyuri Esther (UDA) and Sen. Tabitha Mutinda (UDA) at his office in Kitui when they paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
The Governor briefed the Senator on the status of the county and his approach of governance keen to redeem the county and lead it on a progressive path.
On his part, Senator Kiio revealed that it was his first time to visit the county offices since 2017 and that he will support the governor for the progress of the county and the future of its people even as he pursues his oversight role.
“As the senator, I’ll help you deliver services to our people. This time I’m privileged to be a Senator. I had 5 years of extremely hard time as a senator in the second term of devolution.
The sins of today must be either forgiven today or punished today. What you have seen in the reports by the taskforces you established is just a tip of the iceberg”. He said.
He further said there was need to surcharge governors who supervised plunder, massive looting and embezzlement of public funds across the country.
“I am not here to bash anybody, but without being malicious, the kind of painful experiences the people of Kitui underwent in the last 5 years cannot go unpunished,” Kiio said.
Sen. Wambua exuded confidence in Governor Malombe’s government noting that “for the first time since 2017, the county has a plan to deliver growth to the people”.
“It’s very refreshing when I sit here and listen to you share a plan on zoning of our county, partnering with the national government and other organizations.
The things subjected to the people of Kitui in the last 5 years is what CJ Koome should call hot air”. Said Wambua.
