Kitui County’s new Executive Committee Members and 22 Chief Officers as gazetted on 7th February 2022 in gazette notice number 1369 have today been sworn in by Kitui Resident Magistrate Hon Justine Amoro Asiago ceremony held at the Governor’s Administration Block witnessed by Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe.
The CECMs faced the Kitui County Assembly’s Appointment Committee for vetting while Chief Officers faced respective sectoral committees for vetting.Thereafter the committees retreated for report writing from Wednesday 1st February 2023 until Sunday 5th February 2023. The House had special sittings on 6th and 7th February 2023 to debate the reports and made appropriate decisions.
Also present at the swearing in were Kitui county Commissioners Erastus Mbui, Assembly Speaker Kevin Katisya Kinengo, Majority Leader Harrison Maluki, several MCAs, the clergy and Members of the public.
Addressing the newly sworn in County Executives and Chief Officers, Governor Malombe advised them to work diligently and deliver for the great people of Kitui.
“I and the people of Kitui have a lot of faith in you. We expect you to work day and night because going forward the people of Kitui will hold you to accountable.Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Chief Officers they underwent a vigorous exercise. The county had advertised 26 Chief Officers positions and received 1868 applications and shortlisted 280 who appeared for interviews and 26 Chief Officers qualified for appointment,” The county boss added.
Governor Malombe also thanked the people of Kitui for electing back after five years sabbatical leave also thanked County Assembly for its cooperation for approving County Executive committee members and 26 Chief Officers and said Kitui County Government would achieve its targets through collaboration and continued unity.

The Four COs namely Zakayo Kimanzi, Enoch Nguthu, Geoffrey Mulinge Changangu and Joseph Kimanga Mutua had filed a petition in court against the County Government seeking – among other things – to bar Governor Julius Malombe from Swearing in new Chief Officers in respective offices.
