Kitui County CECM for Youth and Sports, Phoebe Mutemi, joined Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Mutua, during a visit to Mulango Vocational Training Centre today. The visit followed a courtesy call by CS Mutua to Governor Dr. Julius Malombe. The event at Mulango Technical Vocational College attracted over 2,000 job seekers, with only 1,000 set to secure jobs under the National Job Recruitment Program (Phase 1) by the Ministry of Labour and Social Justice.
Waziri Phoebe commended the national and county governments for their collaborative efforts in creating job opportunities for youth, particularly abroad. She emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring young people are empowered and equipped for global opportunities.
This initiative aligns with Kitui County’s focus on youth empowerment, as demonstrated during the Kitui County Youth Engagement Forum 2024 held last week. The forum provided a platform for youth to voice their challenges and explore opportunities for development.
Kitui’s inclusion in the National Job Recruitment Program (Phase 1) signals a significant step toward addressing unemployment in the region, showcasing the county’s active participation in national development initiatives.
