On Thursday, March 23, 2023_Agriculture and Livestock Development Executive Dr. Stephen Kimwele Mbaya and Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries Nelly Mutisya have this morning hosted a team from UN Women, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADSE) for a courtesy call at the CECM’s office.
The team briefed the CECM and the CO on the working partnership between the UN Women, FAO and ADSE with the support of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), towards implementation and adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) in the county.
The project seeks to equip over 2,000 households in three implementing wards with modern techniques to handle drought besides strengthening value chain addition in the county’s agricultural sector.
Climate smart adaptations to farming are aimed at building women’s resilience to climate change risks in the region through enhanced food security and water provision for improved livelihoods.
The project is being implemented in Kauwi Ward (Kitui West Sub-County) as well as Mutomo/Kibwea and Athi Wards in Kitui South Sub-County.On his part, CEC Mbaya reiterated the County Government’s commitment to cooperate with development partners operating in the county.
