Kitui County Sports Department is on race against time to revive sports activities in the county.
While Commissioning a weeklong training for Referees and Coaches in Volleyball, Handball, Netball and Badminton, Kitui CECM Phoebe Mutemi insisted on equiped grassroot sports managers in order to “Plant, grow and harvest” the best talent for both the County and the unlimited world of sports.
The training which is also hosting ADAK (Anti-doping Agency of Kenya) intends to familiarize the Administrators and Officiators about doping in order for them to be aggressive in combating drug and substance abuse among players.
The Minister also pledged to partner with other sports federations to organize and support multiple competitions so as to identify and tame talent at the earliest opportunity.Adding a stich to the fabric, Kitui County Acting Accounting Officer for the ministry Madam Esther Mutemi encourage the participants to take serious the training since the county had gone beyond the limits to engage country’s topnotch expertise as well as the certificates acquired will have a national accreditation.
The training in Kitui Teachers Training College has brought together over 200 sports enthusiast and their determination and compliance to the cord of sports will determine the crop of sports in Kitui in the near future!!
