It was opened by Kitui County Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, with the primary aim of enhancing the officers’ efficiency in executing their roles in their respective wards. The training sought to equip them with skills necessary for managing ward forums and supporting Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in delivering on their mandates of representation, legislation, and oversight.
The training program covered several crucial topics, including the conduct of public officers, asset and imprest management, accounting procedures, and the requisition and documentation of ward forums. These areas are critical to ensuring the smooth functioning of ward offices and improving service delivery at the grassroots level.
The officers were also educated on the objectives of ward forums and the importance of maintaining professionalism and accountability in their roles.
During his opening remarks, Speaker Kevin Kinengo urged the Ward Assistant Officers to work closely with both elected and nominated MCAs to ensure efficient service delivery. He highlighted the vital role the officers play in helping MCAs fulfill their legislative and oversight responsibilities, reminding them of their duty to remain loyal and committed to their tasks.
Kinengo emphasized the importance of avoiding internal politics and instead focusing on supporting their bosses for the betterment of their communities.
