Kitui West Locals Huge Turn During Relief Food Distribution Exercise

Hon. Penina Malonza, the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community (EAC), ASALs, and Regional Development, led the distribution of relief food in Tulia, Kakeani, Katutu, Muutini, Kwa Mutonga, Kathivo, Kalimani, and Maseki, on Friday 15th March 2024, a wave of jubilation swept through the residents of Kitui West. Among them, the peasant farmers, whose crops had been devastated by heavy downpours, were particularly elated.

To the locals, the relief food wasn’t just sustenance; it was a lifeline amidst adversity. As they patiently queued up to receive the assistance, a palpable sense of gratitude and relief permeated the crowd.

Hon. Malonza’s presence served as a beacon of reassurance and hope for the community, affirming that they were not alone in their struggles. Her dedication, combined with the support of local leaders and authorities, underscored a steadfast commitment to alleviating the suffering caused by natural disasters and ensuring the welfare of all citizens.

Accompanying the Cabinet Secretary were key figures such as Kitui’s County Commissioner, Kipchumba Rutto, who led the county security team, as well as Kitui West MP, Hon. Edith Nyenze, and Mutonguni Ward MCA, Hon. Benjamin Mulandi “Kiluma”,  Kauwi Ward MCA, Hon. Gabriel Munyao, and other local leaders. Together, they stood united in their efforts to provide aid and comfort to those in need, reaffirming the power of community solidarity in times of crisis.
