Kitui Governor Dr.Julius Malombe EGH has vowed to continue supporting youth in the county to better their lives. In his speech, delivered by the CECM in the Ministry of Energy, Environment, Forestry,Climate Change, Natural & Mineral resources Richard John Mwendandu, during the International Day for the youth in Kitui West’s Kauwi Primary school grounds, the Governor reiterated his commitment in ensuring that the youth are in the lead in matters pertaining not only the county but also the country at large.
He called on the youth to shift from rain – fed Agriculture and instead look for more productive avenues of enhancing food sustainability in the county.
“My Administration is working hand- in hand with the youth to ensure that Agri- business is put in the lead to promote Climate Smart Agriculture” read the speech.
On her part, Kitui CECM for Culture, Gender, Youth, Sports, ICT and Social Services Phoebe Mutemi while Speaking at the event, themed Green Skills for Youth Towards a Sustainable World said her docket will support youth in the formation of cooperatives to enhance their social – economic status.
Nason Kang’alya, Chief officer in the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Youth, Sports ICT and Social services highlighted the important role the youth play in shaping the country’s future noting that with the challenging Environmental challenges at hand, the cultivation of green skills among the youth would be a necessity to build a more friendly and sustainable world.
He further revealed Governor Dr. Malombe’s commitment in promoting and empowering the youth noting the recent appointment of CECMs and CO’s in the various County Government Ministries International Youth day is observed every year on August 12th to honour the qualities of youth and the potential that they hold towards development of a nation and the world as a whole.
