Kitui’s Ministry of Health unveils State-of-the-Art Mortuary Facility at KCRH

Kitui Ministry of Health and Sanitation, under the leadership of CECM for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koki and her three chief officers, has delivered a state-of-the-art mortuary facility at Kitui County Referral Hospital on Thursday, 12th October 2024.

A major step in improving healthcare services with the handover of a modern mortuary facility from the contractor at the hospital.

The handover event was led by Chief Officers Lynn Kitwan, in charge of Public Health and Sanitation, and Aggrey Kamba, responsible for Drugs and Medical Supplies. Their leadership underscores the commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure in the county.

The new facility is designed to provide modern and efficient mortuary services, significantly improving the hospital’s capacity to manage the dignity and care of the deceased while easing pressure on the existing facility. This upgrade aims to enhance the overall efficiency and respect in handling deceased individuals.

Chief Officer Lynn Kitwan expressed her satisfaction with the project’s quality and the timely delivery of the facility. She highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in advancing healthcare services in the county.

“I am impressed with the excellent work done here. This facility will not only boost the hospital’s services but also bring much-needed relief to the community. I would like to extend my gratitude to the County Assembly for their commitment to allocating funds for this critical project,” said Kitwan.

Kitui Township MCA Daniel Ngoima also praised the contractor for the high construction standards and noted the positive impact the facility will have on the community. He reaffirmed his dedication to advocating for increased funding for similar beneficial projects.

 

“This mortuary will serve the people of Kitui and beyond. I will continue lobbying for increased funding for such essential infrastructure that directly benefits our citizens,” Ngoima remarked.

The new facility is expected to greatly enhance the hospital’s mortuary services, providing a more dignified approach to handling deceased individuals and offering much-needed support to families. It stands as a testament to the county government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in Kitui County.
