The Kamba Visionaries Association (KVA) continues to make significant strides in environmental conservation through its ongoing tree-planting initiatives across Kitui County. Over the weekend, the group achieved another milestone in Mwingi North Constituency during the KVA Mwingi North Climate Change Mitigation Initiative, planting over 10,000 tree seedlings in Kyuso, Tseikuru, and Ngomeni Wards.
Led by KVA Chairman Hon. Hillary Katee Wa Ndana, alongside KVA Secretary General Victor Kyalo alias Cashflow, and hundreds of KVA members, the initiative focused on schools and public institutions. Over 80 schools received tree donations, with Ivona Ngya, Masyungwa, Kalimbui, Tseikuru, Gai, Ngaie, and Kamusiliu Primary Schools, as well as Kyuso Law Courts and Kyuso Hospital, serving as launch venues. The exercise culminated in symbolic tree planting at Mbaa Mbua and Mbaa Kathenge on Sunday, 17th November.
This effort is part of a broader campaign by KVA, which has previously planted trees in Mwingi West and Kitui Central constituencies before extending the initiative to Mwingi North. The organization’s goal is to make Kitui greener while contributing to Kenya’s national target of planting 15 billion trees by 2030.
Wakili Charles Mwalimu hosted the two-day exercise, which saw partnerships with organizations like the Katee Foundation, Larger than Life Concept, We the Trees Foundation, and the Vincent Kawala Foundation, alongside support from the County Government of Kitui and the National Government in Kitui.
The event was graced by Kitui County Commissioner Kipchumba Rutto and the Kitui County Security Committee, who commended the initiative for its long-term environmental impact.
KVA’s commitment to reforestation and climate change mitigation serves as a beacon of hope for a sustainable future, encouraging communities across the county to embrace tree planting as a key environmental solution.
