Kyalo Muli Rallies Kamba Unity Behind 2027 Presidential Bid

The National Liberal Party (NLP) leader, Augustus Kyalo Muli, has launched a spirited campaign aimed at uniting the Kamba community behind the idea of fronting one of their own for the presidency in 2027. Speaking during his ongoing meet-the-people tour in Kitui County, Muli urged the community to reject any future political arrangements that do not prioritize a presidential candidate from the Ukambani region. According to him, past support for candidates from other regions has only resulted in political betrayal and a glaring lack of development in Ukambani.

On Thursday, Kyalo Muli visited Kabati market, Kitui town, and other major trading centres as part of his tour, where he rallied residents to wake up to what he termed as decades of political exploitation. He argued that despite overwhelmingly voting for various presidential candidates in the past, the Kamba people have little to show in terms of infrastructure, jobs, or meaningful government presence. Muli insisted it was time the community took a bold stand and asserted its place in national leadership by championing one of their own.

He further warned those seeking to court the Kamba vote that they must be ready to shelve their ambitions and support a presidential bid from Ukambani. “We have supported others for far too long. This time, anyone who wants our backing must be ready to play second fiddle,” he said. Muli emphasized that the era of being political flower girls in presidential campaigns was over, and it was time the region demanded its rightful share of national power.

Alongside his campaign, the NLP is conducting a massive party membership registration exercise across the county. The exercise is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots support and building momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. Muli noted that the response from locals has been overwhelmingly positive, with hundreds turning out daily to register and show their support. He reiterated that the NLP is committed to delivering a transformative political agenda grounded in regional empowerment and national equity.
