National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli has cautioned President William Ruto against relying on political rhetoric to woo the Kamba community, insisting that the people of Kitui are only interested in tangible development projects.
Speaking exclusively to Hopkindigital.com during a thanksgiving ceremony held at Woods Hotel in Kitui Central on Saturday, Dr. Muli said the residents are politically enlightened and ready to question the government’s performance during the President’s planned visit to the county. “The people of Kitui will not clap for slogans. We will clap for roads, hospitals, clean water, and jobs,” he said, adding that the community has grown weary of repeated promises without visible action.
Dr. Muli warned that the region would not be swayed by talk of “One-term Or Two-term” political agendas and urged the Head of State to prioritize development that directly impacts ordinary citizens. He said Ukambani has for too long been used as a political pawn during election cycles, only to be forgotten once votes are secured. “This time, the people will speak for themselves. Kitui is ready for honest conversations, not political gimmicks,” he said.
NLP party has become one of the fastest-growing political movements in the Eastern region, establishing strong roots in Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties. He said the party is positioning itself as a serious force ahead of the 2027 general election, with a clear focus on accountability, inclusivity, and development. “NLP is now among the biggest parties in Eastern Kenya, and we are ready to give our people a new political direction,” Dr. Muli added.
