Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, along with a group of philanthropists led by Mansukh Kerai, visited Kyoani Primary School, where three students tragically lost their lives in a recent road accident. The visit aimed to offer support and solidarity to the grieving community, while also committing to a significant facelift for the school’s infrastructure. The well-wishers pledged to build, renovate, install windows, and improve the classroom floors, providing a much-needed upgrade to the learning environment.
Josephine Mulatya, the PTA chair and mother of the three deceased students, expressed her deep gratitude to Ngilu and the philanthropists for their visit and their promise to uplift the school’s facilities. She acknowledged the gesture as a beacon of hope for the school community, which has been reeling from the tragedy.
During the visit, Mulatya also raised the pressing issue of the school’s unreliable water supply. She made a heartfelt appeal for a permanent solution, explaining that students have been forced to carry water from home, which is unsustainable. The call for a water solution highlighted the need for further community support to ensure the school can offer a conducive learning environment.
The visit by Ngilu and the philanthropists not only brought a sense of healing to the mourning families but also renewed optimism for the future of Kyoani Primary. The pledged renovations and potential solutions to the water problem will significantly improve the daily lives of the students and teachers alike.
