Makueni Journalists Withdraw Covering County Events After Media Budgets Squandered

Makueni journalists are calling out to Makueni governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior for quick interventions before they withdraw covering county government functions with transparency in allegations that journalists are not recognized when it comes to facilitation yet the county communication office has budget for journalists hence call for immediate audit in any budgetary allocation drawn in name of media.

Some of county functions journalists money was squandered are during swearing in of County Chief Officers, Kyisa games celebration galore, launch of ajiiry job center, and recently during the national mango conference.

In a letter shared to Hopkin Digital revealed that some individuals in Makueni County goverment causing predicaments to journalists while trying to cover news in Makueni.

The letter to H.E Mutula Kilonzo Makueni County Governor

“As we journalists keep on standing up for our right to truth, transparency and balanced news coverage, there are variouspredicaments that we have been facing, not natural but caused by “bad” human character (ghost workers) from within the county government.

Therefore, we resolve to inform you that

-i) There is poor and untimely communication to cover county functions.

ii) Journalists are NEVER recognized when it comes to facilitation, yet the communication office normally has a budget for this.

iii)We ask for an audit to be carried out on any budgetary allocations drawn in the name of Media.

iv) Adamantly, it has been realized that Vincent Muli( Tvl) a blogger has been colluding and threatening various county departments to solicit cash and squander facilitation made for journalists in many functions.

Seemingly, the fellow has silenced communication director Mr. Stephen Nzioka Example of functions money allegedly swindled: i). Swearing in of Chief officers ii) Kyisa games iii) Ajiry job center launch IV) Mango festival among others.

With the above afore mentioned reasons, we down our tools in Covering County functions until his Excellency the governor addresses the matter in question.
