The tournament was graced by hundreds of football lovers who showed people were hungry for sports entertainment in the constituency.
According to Hon Malinga the tournament aimed to bring together the youth and inspire them through socialization.
“Malinga Cup is now in the second edition, and the reason I came up with this tournament especially football was to prevent crime and drug use among the teenage youth in Zombe Mwitika ward during the holiday seasons.
The MCA said reviving and supporting community clubs was the only way for the county to grow the sport whose ratings have dropped significantly over the years.
“It’s important to grow the youth’s talent and get them out of drugs and frustrations. You have seen how the tournament has kept them busy,” he concluded.
