Zombe/Mwitika MCA Hon. Laban Malinga Munyao, the organizer of the tournament, emphasized that the Malinga Cup is not only about sports but also a way to combat drug and substance abuse among the youth. He noted that the event offers a platform to engage young people positively and promote their talents. “This initiative keeps our youth occupied and gives them an opportunity to showcase their abilities while staying away from destructive behaviors,” Hon. Malinga said.
In addition to the sports competition, Hon. Malinga highlighted that motivational speakers would address the participants to discuss important topics such as stress, depression, and mental health. “We will have motivational speakers to talk about stress, depression, and mental health issues. These discussions will provide our youth with guidance and support as they navigate life’s difficulties,” he remarked, underscoring the need for mental health awareness among the youth.
Hon. Malinga also urged the community to be mindful during the festive season, calling on motorists to drive responsibly and avoid reckless behavior that could lead to accidents. He further advised parents to spend wisely during the celebrations, reminding them of the need to prepare for school fees in January. “Let us celebrate within our means and avoid using all our resources. School fees will be needed in January, and we must be prepared,” he said. The Malinga Cup continues to make a significant impact in Zombe/Mwitika Ward, nurturing young talent and addressing critical social issues. “Thank you for supporting youth talent,” Hon.
